Could R&B Singer Ray J be the Black Elon Musk?
South African entrepreneur Elon Musk is known as the real world “Tony Stark”. He is a brilliant leader in technology, industry, and entrepreneurship. Musk is founded the revolutionary Tesla Motors and Paypal, SpaceX, which launched a landmark commercial spacecraft in 2012 and a slew of other tech companies. Musk is reported to have a network of 24 Billion dollars.
However recent news of some really innovative and aggressive business moves from famous R&B singer and reality star Ray J makes many think that he is fast becoming the black Elon Musk. Ironically, like Musk and Tony Stark, Ray J indeed does have the brilliance, charm, personality, and vision to actually become a real world changer and multi-billionaire. Several media experts have already suggested that Ray J is responsible for making the “Tesla of bikes”.
In late 2017 Ray J launched Raycon Global, a new electronic transportation tech company that has just closed a 31 million dollar deal to produce new and innovative electronic transportation to serve the needs of this techy, energy conscious generation. Ray J actually has been creating innovative tech products since at least 2015. In 2015 Ray J released a new scooter bike called the “Scoot E Bike” which is a foldable electric bike that has been sported and customized by some of the worlds most popular celebrities like; Snoop Dog, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown and even Diddy. Ray J actually opened a store on Melrose to sell the “Scoot E Bike” direct to the public. However, despite the “Scoot E Bike” being endorsed by big-time celebrities, it did receive mixed reviews from tech critics. Some critics didn’t like the design, others called it an Alibaba product remake and some questioned the overall practicality of the product altogether.
However, the initial Raytroniks “Scoot E Bike” launch proved viable enough for Ray J’s latest brand, Raycon Global to secure a 31 Million dollar deal with Cowboy Wholesale to create and distribute new electronic vehicles worldwide. Cowboy Wholesale has worked with other global brands like Sony and Coby Electronics to sell more than $1 billion in consumer electronics; so this is a very big deal for Raycon Global.
Ray J has a passion for creating energy efficient and eco-friendly products. He said recently, “The world is moving towards renewable green energy, and electric transportation is a big part of that. With the Raycon movement, we are going to make sure we are one of the first ones there,”.
Raycon Global really seems to be shaping up to be a viable global brand. After visiting the site personally, I noticed that not only is the branding sharp, strong and modern; it also creates the type of connection in the mind as the beats brand did, which was created by fellow entertainment mogul, Dr. Dre. I noticed also that Raycon Global sells a wide range of cool new products ranging from electric transportation, Bluetooth audio devices, Smartwatches and digital speakers to a wide assortment of drones.
Moreover, the most surprising thing I observed from my visit over at rayconglobal.com was the pricing. All of the products sold via Raycon Global appear to be very cutting edge, well designed and made of premium material. It was a pleasure to see that such high-quality products were being offered at such affordable prices, making them accessible and affordable to almost anyone. I’d like to mention to critics of the “Scoot E bike” that when I visited the site there was a big SOLD OUT sign on the bottom of the “Scoot E bike” product listing page.
There appears to be a connection between the creativity, savvy and hustle needed to succeed in the entertainment business that effectively translates to success in other areas of industry. It is exciting to see black celebrities become black business owners.
We will watch with great anticipation as Raycon Global continues to expand and reach new heights of success and new levels of impact.
